Fashion Myth of today : “Fashion is only for the young”.
So, you have reached your 40-s or 50-s and decided that you should forget about fashion. Many social researches show that women from this age group think that they are too old to follow fashion and because of that they start to wear boring, inexpressive clothes and stop using makeup. There is a very common believe that at this age it is not about how you look but about how you “feel”. But guess what? How you feel relates directly to how you look! Many women in their 40-50-60s often say that they’ve “earned the right” to wear whatever they want. Or that, they “don’t have anyone to impress, so, why bother?”
There is nothing wrong about wanting to be individual.Women of all ages do struggle with their body image, self-confidence and independence. At the same time, I disagree with the assumption that older women shouldn’t care how they look, by default. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look your best in your 50s, 60s and 70s.
Fashion doesn’t have age limits and every woman has all means to look stylish at any age. As wine gets better with age, mature woman is more confident and independent; she has more time for herself and usually more resources to invest in her wardrobe.
Yes, some trends are geared for the younger generation (very few people over the age of 14 can wear neon leggings), but today’s fashion industry has huge variety of clothes and accessories; everyone can find something that will resonate with their aesthetics and lifestyle.
So don’t give up on style and fashion just because your birth record shows some numbers! Be bold and be beautiful always and everywhere!
